During this time social media is your best friend.
During this time of social distancing and self-quarantine that comes with the COVID-19 virus, it has become increasingly difficult to create an effective networking system. This is because a large majority of networking relationships are built in person and at events.
Right now that’s not possible, or safe, and so we have thought of a few ways where you can automate or digitise your networking skills.
stay active and consistent
During this time social media is your best friend – although this isn’t exactly specific to this time as social media is always a useful tool. It’s important to stay active and be constant so make sure to comment and follow as many accounts as you can. Although it’s important to remember to do this at a ‘slow and steady’ pace otherwise you might get flagged as a spam account.
Another way that you can digitally network is to establish a set of media contacts that include a variety of businesses, influencers and publications where your product/service could fit in with. It’s now key to construct a professional and engaging email that is filled with information about who you are and what you can offer and send it out.
Thirdly, it is vital to get to know the industry that you want to be involved in. So you need to do a sufficient amount of research to identify the key players and start following not only what they do but how they do it. Learning by example is the best way for a professional crash course.
